Directory terms and privacy

What the directory is
The ServFlo directory helps homeowners find local service businesses. ServFlo connects you with a business; we are not a party to the work. We don't employ, recommend, endorse or guarantee any business, and we aren't responsible for their work, prices, licensing, insurance or conduct. You agree terms with the business directly. Before you hire, check the business's license with your state's board and ask for proof of insurance.
How businesses are ordered
- ServFlo members come first and are highlighted. They pay for ServFlo's software, so this is a paid placement.
- Then businesses that claimed their free listing, then listings from public records.
- Within each group: how well they match your search (service and area), then distance, then reviews.
- No business pays per lead, and none can pay to be ranked above other members.
Where listings come from
- Businesses that use ServFlo, from the details they give us.
- State contractor licensing boards' public records: name, license type and number, status, expiration, city or address, and phone when the board publishes it. "Verified on" is the date we last read the board's record; licenses change, so check with the board.
- OpenStreetMap, for trades without a state license. That data is © OpenStreetMap contributors and available under the Open Database License.
We don't copy listings or reviews from Google, Yelp or other sites.
Reviews
Star ratings come only from customers who paid a business's invoice through ServFlo and answered "How did we do?". We show the average and the number of ratings. We never hide or change a rating, and a business can't choose which customers are asked.
Booking and requests
When you book or send a request, your details go only to the business you picked. We never share them with another business or sell them. The business may call, text or email you about your request. Booked times come from the business's own schedule; the business confirms the visit.
Privacy
- What you type in a booking or request (name, phone, email, address, what you need) is sent to that business and kept in its ServFlo account under its own privacy policy.
- We count profile views and clicks on "Visit website", "Call" and "Book" without cookies, to show each business how its listing is doing. We use your network address briefly to stop spam (rate limits).
- We don't sell personal information, and we don't use your details for advertising.
- Removal and correction requests keep your name and email so we can answer you, and a short record of the removed business (name, phone, place) so it isn't added back.

Claiming a listing
A business can claim its listing for free by proving it's theirs: a code texted to the phone on the listing, a code emailed to an address at its website's domain, or its license number and a document that a ServFlo person reviews. A claimed listing stays editable for free. Online booking and the member highlight come with a paid ServFlo plan. One business owns a listing; disputes and transfers go through ServFlo, and every step is logged.
Information from licensing boards may never be used to sell to businesses; we don't contact businesses we found in public records.
Removal and corrections
Any business can ask us to remove its listing or fix its details from the "Remove or correct this listing" link on its profile. We confirm it's you with a code to the listed phone or website domain, or review the request by hand. A removed business goes on a suppression list so later imports don't add it back.
